Understanding public procurement is vital for all staff working with public funds. This course is suitable for people starting out on their procurement career or who are new to public sector procurement. It is also beneficial for anyone with responsibility for managing low-risk/low-value purchases. The course is presented by an experienced trainer, and is supported by group work on a <a href="https://www.procurementjourney.scot/route-1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Procurement Journey Route 1</a> case study. Training notes are supplied for reference.On completion of this course, attendees will have gained knowledge of public procurement, and will understand key terms, concepts and the Scottish procurement landscape.Topics•	Definition of procurement – role, responsibilities, challenges •	Differences between the public and private sectors •	Establishing good relationships and managing stakeholders •	Ethical issues relating to procurement •	Legislative requirements relating to procurement •	Sustainability in procurement •	The Procurement Journey, with a focus on Route 1 procurement •	The Scottish Model of Procurement •	The Scottish Procurement Landscape and the Reform programmeThis course forms part of a suite of procurement workshops delivered by the Scotland Excel Academy as part of the Scottish Government&#x27;s Procurement and Commercial Training Framework.
