<h2>Welcome</h2>Feeling the need to pause, to breathe, to rest, relax and reflect; to nourish and replenish; to reconnect and restore your positivity, inner peace and motivation? Inspired by our successful <a href="https://dorothyarmstrong.net/thrive/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Thrive</a> programme which focuses on well-being, compassion and kindness and by our collective experiences as women on the journey, we are delighted to offer this Revive and Thrive Day Retreat in central Edinburgh. You will be warmly welcomed to a day of safe and nurturing space in the company of like minded women. You are welcome: whether you are a busy working person keen for some time out, returning to work and new challenges, have recently retired and looking to the future, looking to reflect on your current place in the world or simply to reconnect, refresh and renew your own passions in life. This experience is for you.Come on in and step away from your busy life just for a while. In this one day of calm we will introduce you to our unique approach to well-being, including a taster of the four components making up the programme. There will also be the opportunity to sign up for our four seasonal retreats in October, January, April and June 2023. - Connection : refreshing our need for shared humanity- Compassion : for ourselves as well as others - Confidence : to re-emerge with renewed positivity and self-belief - Celebration : to appreciate lives pleasures in our everyday experiences

<h2>Your retreat experience</h2>In our one day retreat we will focus on your well-being and self-compassion.In order to thrive in all areas of our lives, we need to care for ourselves.We have all experienced adversity, challenges or suffering in our lives. This retreat will create an environment where you will be welcomed, accepted and appreciated however you show up.During the retreat we will share and explore with you ways to support your mind and body connection, build self confidence, practice self-compassion, relaxation and gratitude techniques you can take away and use. Our hope is each one of us will leave the retreat with a greater sense of connection, compassion, confidence and appreciation.

<h2>What's included? </h2>The costs include the following:-- all refreshments and a healthy lunch- a Revive and Thrive goody bag - access to the many resources we will share including meditation and relaxation practices, videos and handouts

<h2>Your facilitators : Dorothy Armstrong</h2>I am thrilled to be able to bring the best of our Thrive programme to this Retreat. I have had the privilege to be promoting well-being to colleagues within the NHS and schools for several years and the personal learning has been life changing!I spent most of my career as a registered nurse and educator before founding DA Professional, where I support individuals, teams and organisations to communicate at their best with a particular interest in conflict, complaints and bringing compassion to life. My passion for this work has developed as part of my role with Scotland's Ombudsman, where citizens can seek individual justice and organisations can demonstrate learning and improvement. I am an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh where I was awarded a Doctor of Science in 2020 for services to nursing and I am still involved in some part-time teaching. I am proud to be Chair of North Edinburgh Dementia Care, a day facility for members with dementia.The foundations for this Retreat include appreciative inquiry, neuro linguistic programming, mindful self-compassion and conversational intelligence. Above all I bring my love for people, fun, nature and personal growth. One of my favourite places to be is in the countryside surrounding Pitlochry where I do my best to keep active walking and I am a fair weather electric biker!

<h2>Inga Cosway </h2>From a nursing background, my passion has always been to promote health and wellbeing, in particularly mental and emotional wellbeing. My NHS career has spanned 35 years and for the last seven I have been working as Staff Wellbeing Lead at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Alongside this, I am a mum of two teens, and a daughter of a mum with dementia. So I know how easy it is to look after the needs of others, often at the expense of my own.I have practiced yoga for many years finding classes helpful for stress and anxiety. I completed a Yoga Teacher training diploma with Yoga Scotland in 2020. With this I have learned to create nurturing practices based on what I has found beneficial in my own life, and have adapted them so that they can be done anywhere - “we carry our breath wherever we go”.Nowadays you will often find me re-charging my own batteries on the beach at Portobello, with a flask of coffee, a log fire and a few close friends. Swimming at sunrise or sunset is one of my favourite things. Connecting with nature and connecting with our inner selves can bring stillness and peace. I share these concepts in a meaningful way. My breathing, stretching and compassionate meditation practices will release tension from the body and bring calm to the busy mind. I truly believe that, from this place of stillness, every one of us, no matter how busy we are, can re-connect with our own positive, joyous energy.

<h2>Gina Alexander </h2>I am a freelance project worker utilising my experience in social enterprise, health and social care structures to effect positive change and improvement.I started my working life as a graduate with Guinness plc (in the year dot!) and developed as an HR professional with a keen interest in learning and development. I have wide and varied experience in development roles across private, education and community and voluntary sector in both paid and volunteer roles. My parents were both profoundly deaf and I witnessed first hand, and often painfully, the marginalisation and exclusion affecting people with disabilities and other challenges in many areas of society. Over the years I have come to realise that these experiences have shaped my fundamental passion for social justice. This has manifested itself in the paid and voluntary roles I have taken on. I am particularly pleased about leading the innovative work of social enterprise, Care Opinion, in Scotland for 9 years: this work resulted in Scotland being a world leader in the use of the online platform for people to share their experiences of healthcare. Overall I relish the opportunities to support and encourage people to realise their voice and potential. I am an associate education facilitator with Social Enterprise Scotland and a volunteer mentor with MCR Pathways.I actively pursue a work life balance by swimming three times a week, walking, singing with Rock Choir and being a fiendish knitter!Interesting fact: Gina jumped out of the first plane she was ever in! (says it all really!

<h2>The Venue : Eric Liddell Centre, Edinburgh </h2>The Eric Liddell Centre is a local care charity 
and community hub in the Bruntsfield area supporting some of 
Edinburgh’s most vulnerable people. Established in 1980 in memory of the 1924 
Olympic Gold medalist Eric Liddell and his 
compassionate social values. So we thought his venue was a fitting place to host our Retreats. 
Easily accessible by public transport and within a 20 minute walk from the centre of Edinburgh, the centre also has an in-house cafe.
