Anxiety Based School Avoidance - Parent and Professionals Training

STRIVE NI works to provide workshops and support for parents, children and teaching staff in Northern Ireland.  We offer one-to-one sessions with children and young people and also offer workshops for parents and professionals on various topics (such as autism, sleep support, emotional regulation and behaviour management among others).   We also offer school intervention sessions for children, both individually, in groups or in classes.Our main aim is to support children and young people who are experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (including ASD).

A session for school staff and parents of children who present with anxiety related school avoidance behaviours - strategies and tips!

Anxiety Based School Avoidance refers to children who significantly struggle to attend school due to their emotional wellbeing (particularly anxiety). In the workshop we will explore reasons why a child or young person may be finding it difficult to attend school, as well as providing practical strategies for parents and school staff to support children to return more willingly to the school environment.Ticket cost also includes a resource pack﻿ full of strategies for both parents and teachers to utilise.The workshop will be led by Elaine McCrisken (BSc, MSc Psych) who has vast experience supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. She has now delivered this workshop to over 500 individuals with excellent feedback.
