The May Fair, A Radisson Collection Hotel, Mayfair London

Now in its third year, the May Fair Showreel will be taking place on Sunday 26 June as part of the Mayfair Art Weekend events programme. Featuring moving image artworks, we are delighted to announce that the event will again be hosted in the luxurious screening room at The May Fair Hotel.The Showreel is the only part of Mayfair Art Weekend that is open to submission from artists not represented by Mayfair galleries.With almost 100 applications for the third edition of the May Fair Showreel, the judges had the hard task of selecting the artworks to be screened at the May Fair Theatre on Sunday 26 June.In 2022, we were delighted to welcome judges Angel Leung (Adjunct Curator at Videotage); Elisa Tosoni (Gallery Manager, Cardi Gallery); and Eugene Macki (artist and 2021 May Fair Showreel finalist). Two of the things we get really excited about when it comes to the May Fair Showreel are the range of artworks and how international the selection is, and this year is no exception. Here is what you can expect to see (listed alphabetically):Anna Jarai (b. Hungary, lives UK) Virágom, Virágom - an experimental short film inspired by folklore and heritageChico Santon (Brazil) When teeth fall out - a pseudo documentary recording legends created from real storiesDiana Olifirova (b. Ukraine, lives UK) Intrance - "Spiralling through spaces redefining my identity, culture, memories and future"Jennifer Louise Martin (London) Hear My Cry - a film manifesting the artist's story of becoming a mother and journey with post- natal depression.Methas Chantawongs (Thailand) KHONtemporary - contemporary animation/video based on “KHON”, a traditional Thai masked dance drama.Nigel Goldsmith (London) Your call is important to us - explores mankind’s growing reliance on AI, robotics and automation.Sam Williams (London) See What I See - portrait of Norwegian artist, educator and collector Guttorm Guttormsgaard.Susan Eyre (London) Cosmic Chiasmus: crossing the universe - using footage of cosmic particle trails captured from the artist’s cloud chamber experiments a hidden realm of activity is revealed.Vardit Goldner (Israel) Swimming Lesson - A mockumentary film in which I teach Bedouin girls to swim in a waterless “pool”.Violet Frances Cato (b.
