<h1>A new housing option for women</h1><h2>Have you ever become frustrated looking for someplace decent to live and…</h2>Dreamt of pooling resources with a group of friends to buy a house to live in together? But then worried that you couldn’t come up with your share of the deposit? Or, for whatever reason, you just didn’t have the kind of friends you could ask to share a property?Struggled to protect yourself against rapidly increasing rents, unhelpful agents and the knowledge that the owner could sell the place at any time? And then didn’t even feel safe where you could afford to live?Got your hopes dashed bidding endlessly for council housing but never getting to the top of the queue? Or if you got a council flat, it was in such poor condition that it was uninhabitable?While property ownership is a proven route to security, if you’re a woman who doesn’t have a big inheritance coming your way or a job that pays more than average, then in the UK you are unlikely to qualify for a mortgage on your own. Research from the Women’s Budget Group* in shows that while the average male income can qualify for a mortgage everywhere but London, that’s not true for women. Without more, the average woman’s income will not satisfy the criteria to get a mortgage anywhere in the UK. But what if there was a way for you, as a woman, to climb onto the property ladder without a vast inheritance, executive salary or wealthy friends?<ul><li>Where, for a very modest deposit, you could have your own space in a lovely home with a private bathroom (shared with one other woman at most)? Maybe located in the UK, but maybe a ‘place in the sun’ in Southern Europe. Where there is a garden and multiple social spaces for the times when you feel like having a little company? </li><li>Where you didn’t need to have a group of friends ready and able to buy beforehand, and instead have a chance to meet up with like-minded co-purchasers before committing? Where you have a chance to ‘try before you buy’ so that you could be sure you liked it? </li><li>Where you didn’t need a quarter of the purchase price before you even began, and could pay off your share in about 12 years instead of 25 or 30? You would have grown equity in your property by then, and could either sell the home and go your separate ways, or stay and be ‘mortgage free’ in little more than a decade. </li></ul>Sound too good to be true?
