ATU Summer Computing Camp
The Camp will be both online and OnCampus in ATU Letterkenny, you MUST register here for the OnCampus version.

The Camp will take place from 10am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday and is open to children between the ages 12 to 17. The camp will be available both online and onCampus in ATU Letterkenny (formaly LyIT), you need to register here to attend the onCampus camp.The camp will incorporate the following workshops:Tuesday 7th June - Wearable Technologies and Virtual RealityThere was a time not long ago when technology was all around is, but now, wearable technology is on us. The concept of wearables can range from fitness trackers to medical-based technology, and on this dedicated wearables day, many types of wearable devices will be explored. All students attending in person will be able to interact with various wearable technology equipment: fitness trackers, heartrate monitors, devices used to monitor electrocardiograms and even devices that can monitor your sweat! In-person students will be able to use these devices to generate data and online students will be able to gain access to the same data so that everyone can discover how the information our bodies generate can help us learn about fitness, health and wellbeing.Wednesday 8th June - Developing web content with WordPressWordPress is the simplest, most popular way to create your own website or blog without needing to know anything about programming. WordPress is an open-source system and 43.3% of all the websites on the Internet are created using WordPress. Students will learn how to install WordPress on their computer and also how to use the Gutenberg Editor to create content for a website or blog. Students will also learn how to create website Pages and blog Posts using themes and widgets. Creating menu options will allow students to navigate their website. The students can publish their own websites (privately) once created.Thursday 9th June - Programming with Turtle GraphicsLearn to code with Python turtle graphics and see your code come to life on screen. Learn to draw all sorts of shapes and objects while learning computer programming and create your own designs while discovering the power of Python turtle graphics. Friday 10th June - Thunkable Mobile App DevelopmentThunkable uses a Visual Programming methodology, similar to Scratch to allow children of all ages make fun Mobile Applications. This block-based coding environment allows students to create and deploy applications onto Mobile Devices. The apps they create with Thunkable are very functional, interacting with sensors onboard the Mobile Device and create interactive applications that use Artificial Intelligence techniques to recognise objects via the camera on the device.
