We will share data from surveys of nearly 3500 physicists and biologists in the UK, US, Italy, and India, as well as in-depth interviews with more than 200 scientists. Findings paint a concerning picture of the well-being of women and graduate students in science. We also examine scientists&#x27; views of merit and diversity.The presentation will be followed by an interactive discussion of the implications of our findings for creating healthy institutional cultures in science.This study highlight high levels of psychological distress among science graduate students, and significant gender differences in scientists’ experiences of mistreatment.
