Seren's Virtual First Thursday returns to Zoom with guest readers Paul Henry and Susie Wild

This month’s Seren First Thursday is back on Zoom and we’re breaking tradition by running on the second Thursday of the month 9th June because of the Jubilee Bank Holiday. This month we&#x27;re delighted to be joined by guest readers Paul Henry reading from <a href="https://www.serenbooks.com/productdisplay/as-if-to-sing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">As If To Sing</a> and Susie Wild reading from <a href="https://www.parthianbooks.com/products/windfalls?_pos=1&amp;_sid=22a8cc367&amp;_ss=r" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Windfalls</a> (Parthian). Our main readings will be followed by our usual open mic. Tickets are £2 (plus Eventbrite admin fee).Open mic readers are asked to stick to 1 A4 page of poetry or prose to ensure we have time for everyone. Since receiving an Eric Gregory Award he’s published numerous collections of poetry, all with Seren. Described by U.A. Fanthorpe as “a poet’s poet”, he’s read and performed his work at festivals in Europe, the USA and Asia. He’s also presented programmes for BBC Radio Wales, Radio 3 and Radio 4. His collection, The Glass Aisle, led to a musical collaboration with Stornoway’s Brian Briggs which toured UK festivals.<a href="https://www.serenbooks.com/productdisplay/as-if-to-sing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> As If To Sing</a> is his tenth collection.<a href="https://www.serenbooks.com/productdisplay/as-if-to-sing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">As If To Sing is available on the Seren website: £9.99</a>Susie Wild is author of the poetry collections Windfalls and Better Houses, the short story collection The Art of Contraception listed for the Edge Hill Prize, and the novella Arrivals. Her work has recently featured in Carol Ann Duffy’s pandemic project WRITE Where We Are NOW, The Atlanta Review, Ink, Sweat &amp; Tears and Poetry Wales. She has placed in competitions including the Welshpool Poetry Festival Competition, the Prole Laureate Prize and the Mslexia Women’s Poetry Competition and performed at festivals including The Laugharne Weekend, Green Man and Glastonbury.
