A woman lived alone in a tiny room at All Saints church in York, devoted only to prayer. This is her story, sung by Ex Corde Vocal Ensemble

Tickets are now available for a free performance by Ex Corde Vocal Ensemble, featuring music from their forthcoming CD recording. Emma Raughton was an anchoress, living in solitary isolation in All Saints Church in York during the early years of the 15th century; during her confinement she received several visitations from the Virgin Mary. The centrepiece of this concert is ‘At the Edge of the World’, a new work by composer David Lancaster and poet Abi Curtis retelling her story, performed in the same church where Emma lived some 600 years ago.This intimate performance, directed by Paul Gameson, will be preceded by a short introduction from Abi Curtis and David Lancaster.
