The Hobbs Consultancy x Token Man

Masculinity in the Workplace is an annual event designed to help men better support inclusion and diversity

Token Man Panel Series

An ongoing series of panels to support men, inspire men and ultimately recruit men to become allies and agents of change. Upcoming topics include allyship, engaging men with I&D, male friendship ,having uncomfortable conversations and vulnerability.

Welcome to Masculinity in the Workplace 2022, our annual event to mark International Men's Day. This is a hybrid event. Employees of our partner companies can attend the event in real life. Everyone else is invited to attend this event virtually.Masculinity in the Workplace aims to challenge gender stereotypes in workplace culture to enable everyone to thrive in a more inclusive and diverse world. This year we want to explore the benefits of leaning into Inclusion and Diversity and what men can do to become inclusive leaders as well as agents of change. Ultimately the aim of our event is to give men the skills that will ensure they stay relevant in the future while providing women and non binary people to engage more men in inclusion and diversity. Because ultimately we can only make real change by working together.
This event is your opportunity to:

Listen to a broad range of perspectives about the future of work and men's role within that

Identify solutions to drive change - on a personal level and on a systemic level

Be inspired to take action now and also to create a vision for the future

Gain VIP access to our research report insights on the role of men in the future of work

What to Expect
The event is for anyone who is passionate about driving gender equality in the workplace and we welcome everyone however they identify or express themselves (historically 40% of attendees have been female or non binary and 60% male). In particular we would love to see a broad representation of CEOs, CMOs, HR Directors and Inclusion & Diversity Practitioners. Expect to come away with:

A better understanding of the impact a more modern and positive view of masculinity can have on the workplace

Case studies to show how change is already being delivered in the workplace

A list of small things you can do tomorrow as an individual and business to make a difference to gender inclusion and wellbeing

A different perspective on the future of work and where we are heading

Agenda (all times GMT)
Part 1 - Changing the system (1345 - 1500)13:45 Introduction and welcome - Daniele Fiandaca, Founder of Token Man & Roxanne Hobbs, Founder of The Hobbs Consultancy 13:55 Keynote: Laura Bates - "Men can stay relevant by fixing the system"
Too often, we blame women. For walking home alone at night. For not demanding a seat at the table. For not overcoming the odds that are stacked against them. This distracts us from the real problem: the failings and biases of a society that was not built for women. Change is coming and men need to understand the systemic challenges and be part of the solution.14:45 Research findings from this year's Masculinity in the Workplace survey. 15:00 Break Part 2 Changing ourselves (1530 - 1645)15:30 Keynote: Christopher Veal - "Men can stay relevant by connecting with vulnerability"
One of men's biggest fears in the workplace is the fear of irrelevance. Unfortunately in the face of that fear, men tend to armour up becoming more disconnected with those around them. Instead, it is taking the armour off and connecting with vulnerability that is going to ensure men play a positive role in the workplace of the future.16:10 Multi-generation panel - What do men need to do to stay relevant? We ask different generations16:45 BreakPart 3 A personal story of change (1700 - 1800)17:00 Keynote: James O'Brien - "Men can stay relevant by changing their mind"
There's no point having a mind if you're not willing to change it. The question he always gets asked is 'If you're so sure about everything, haven't you ever changed your mind?' In his bestselling How Not To Be Wrong: The Art Of Changing Your Mind , James reveals what he has changed about his mind, and why. In an age of us vs. them, tribal loyalties and bitter divisions, the ability to change our minds may be the most important power we have. Coloured with stories of changing minds from the incredible guests on his podcasts and callers to his radio show, and spanning big ideas like press regulation and brexit, James' talk is packed with revelations, outrage and lots of humour. Because in a world that seems more divided than ever, if you can't change your own mind you'll never really be able to change anyone else's.17:50 Closing - Daniele Fiandaca, Founder of Token Man & Roxanne Hobbs, Founder of The Hobbs Consultancy18:00 Ends
