Join Professor Dave Roberts from Durham University as we walk Blackhall Rocks Beach to Castle Eden Dene whilst exploring how this part of the East Durham Coast has evolved. We'll also be taking a look at the geology and heritage of coal and the coastal denes and how these were formed during the last ice age.

This walk and talk will involve walking down onto Blackhall Rocks Beach via the steps along the beach banks and along the rocky shoreline to Castle Eden Dene. The walk will then return along the England Coast Path/Heritage Coast walking route on the top of the cliffs.This event is free to attend and booking is essential.

Please wear suitable outdoor walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Please ensure you bring a drink and snacks and anything else you may need. Due to the location, there will be no easily accessible toilet facilities on this route.

This walk and talk is part of the 'Reading the Rocks' project which is being delivered by the University of Durham for SeaScapes, and is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
