At MakoCreate we deliver creative digital art and technology workshops and projects. We also deliver workshops to help teachers, youth workers and trainers to gain a better understanding of the changing world of digital media.

4-weekly sessions learning about filmmaking and careers whilst achieving an Arts Award Discover certificate.

This filmmaking course is part of our <a href="https://www.makocreate.co.uk/project/crewe-creative-careers/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative Careers in Crewe</a> programme. We’ve designed the sessions to help young people from Crewe and Cheshire East learn filmmaking skills, and help to signpost pathways into careers in creative industries. This course comprises four, weekly 1.5 hour filmmaking sessions. Participants will learn about various filmmaking skills and careers whilst achieving an Arts Award Discover certificate.Activities Include:<ul><li>Storyboarding </li><li>Shooting film</li><li>Video editing </li><li>Finding out about film organisations. </li><li>Looking at different pathways into the industry. </li><li>Many more…</li></ul>No previous experience is required, these activities are suitable for young people of all abilities. Who can get involved?We are looking for young people from Cheshire East with an interest in the creative sector, who would like to develop their filmmaking skills. The course will run for three age ranges, 11-13, 14-17, and 18-25. (This application is for the 18-25 age group)Young people from Crewe and young people in challenging circumstances will be prioritised.What are the costs? All of the sessions are completely FREE of charge thanks to funding from the Cheshire East Council and Higher Horizons.In fact, participants who successfully complete the course will receive a £20 Amazon voucher.When does the project start?This project is made up of 4 weekly, 1.5-hour sessions. The sessions will be held on Thursdays during the Summer holidays.Course Dates: 4th August, 11th August, 18th August, 25th August <ul><li>Ages 11-13: 10am-11:30am</li><li>Ages 14-17: 12:30pm-2pm</li><li>Ages 18-25: 3pm-4:30pm</li></ul>Where will the sessions take place?This course will be delivered “virtual” (not in-person). Sessions will and will be hosted on Zoom, which is a popular and safe virtual meeting platform.What equipment do I need?The course will be delivered remotely (online), enabling participants to learn from the comfort of their own homes. To be able to do this you will need the following:<ul><li>Access to the internet</li><li>A device to watch the zoom video link (computer/laptop or tablet)</li><li>Another device to take part in the activity (tablet or smartphone)</li><li>A Google/Gmail account to access Google Classroom.
