About the course Always wanted to write from your life but don&#x27;t know where to begin? Does the idea of writing a whole memoir feel daunting? On this short course, you&#x27;ll learn how to write a personal essay based on your life experiences. It&#x27;ll be a complete piece of writing, but it might also be the springboard to writing autobiographically in a longer form. Over six friendly sessions offering a mixture of group discussion and exercises, we&#x27;ll cover:•	An introduction to the personal essayThe truth as a story: narrative structureAccessing memoriesFinding your unique voiceResearching your topicThe role of place in the personal essayConsidering your audienceThe ethics of writing from lifeThe practicalities of writing practiceWorkshopping skills – giving and receiving feedbackPitching to publicationsPLEASE NOTE Classes are capped at 15 places to ensure a high-quality experience.Price £150.00 per ticket (+Booking Fees) which covers 6x sessions over 3 months including detailed feedback and end of course publication in a short story e-book anthology. Tutor ProfileEmily Morris is an author, freelance journalist and creative writing tutor living in Manchester. Her writing has appeared in The i Newspaper, Grazia, Refinery 29 and more. Emily's memoir of single parenthood, My Sh*tty Twenties won her a Gladstone's Library residency and was named a Guardian readers' favourite book of 2017. She is currently working on a novel.
