<h1>9th MARCH 2023</h1>Dorset is holding its first Women’s Health Symposium on 9th March 2023 at the Lighthouse, Poole&#x27;s Centre for the Arts.Dorset Women, together with charity, GO Girls, are hosting the event, “From Menstruation to Menopause”. This promises to be of interest to all women of all ages. The event will be launched by comedian and GO Girls patron, Helen Lederer, with an online guest appearance from Scottish comedian, Janey Godley, who herself is currently undergoing ovarian cancer treatment.With the launch in 2022, of the Government’s Women’s Health Strategy for England, this is an exciting time for women&#x27;s voices to be heard and to understand the impact of health on women now and in the future.The event will have a packed agenda with a broad range of expert speakers from consultant gynaecologists, specialist nurse practitioners, and other key stakeholders from across Dorset, responsible for women’s healthcare.We are thrilled to announce two very special guest star appearances at this special event.<ul><li>H﻿elen Lederer, Comedian, Actor and Patron of GO Girls Charity will open the event and introduce the day with her unique charm and humour.</li><li>J﻿aney Godley, Comedian and Author will speak candidly about her own personal experience of living with ovarian cancer</li></ul>Gender Bias l Menstrual Health l Fertility &amp; Pregnancy l Cancer l Sexual Health l MenopauseTicket Price - £22.50The ticket price covers the cost of venue hire, speaker fees and expenses as well as all the technical kit, and the licenses required for online access and interaction.Early Bird Rate – Take Advantage Today.Book now and receive a 25% discounted ticket for £17.50. Women&#x27;s Action Network Dorset is leading a project to create a Women&#x27;s Charter that aims so change attitudes towards discrimination and gender bias experienced by women and girls and create a vision for the future that sees and end to gender and sex-based inequality.GO Girls formed in 2015 to support all women with gynaecological cancers (endometrial or womb - the most common, ovarian - historically referred to as the &quot;silent killer&quot;, cervical, vulval and vaginal). Since its inception, the charity has grown significantly with 783 members across the UK, and is supported by its Patron, Helen Lederer, one of Britain’s best known faces in the field of comedy, writing and acting. GO Girls wants to ensure all women with gynaecological cancers receive the support they truly deserve on what is often a lonely and difficult journey with survival rates still very low, particularly for those with ovarian cancers. In addition to raising awareness, GO Girls offers an online support group, information, and fundraises for more support services<h2>W﻿omen&#x27;s Health Strategy for England</h2>On 20th July 2022 the government launched a new <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/womens-health-strategy-for-england/womens-health-strategy-for-england#:~:text=The%20strategy%20builds%20on%20Our,care%20system%20listens%20to%20women." target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Women&#x27;s Health Strategy for England</a>. It sets out how the UK government will improve the way in which the health and care system listens to women’s voices, and how it will boost health outcomes for women and girls. It takes a life course approach, focused on understanding the changing health and care needs of women and girls across their lives, from adolescents and young adults to later life.This is a 10-year strategy that sets out a range of commitments to improve the health of women everywhere.
