'My Wild Heart Bleeds': 150 Years of Sheridan Le Fanu's 'Carmilla' (Conference)

The conferenceOur 2022 conference celebrates the 150 year anniversary of the publication of lesbian vampire tale &#x27;Carmilla&#x27; by Irish Gothic writer Sheridan Le Fanu. The conference runs on the 3rd and 4th of September. It runs all day Saturday and a half day on Sunday. The days are long to catch participants in different time zones. Talks will be recorded and the recordings sent out to all attendees so you can catch up with any talks and workshops you can&#x27;t make.(This timetable may still be subject to minor changes)TicketsThe ticket price is £20 for the event.There is also an option to buy a discount ticket (£10) for anyone struggling financially to attend. Romancing the Gothic donates 5 tickets as well.Money goes towards paying participants and towards accessibility costs such as transcription and subtitling. Romancing the Gothic runs on donations. We are very thankful to the University of Liverpool for funding a research associate (Emilia Hilton) to aid with organising the event.Accessibility InformationLive transcription will be enabled.Where possible slides (with alt-text for screen readers) and transcripts will be provided.Talks will be recorded so they can be accessed after the event. These will be subtitled in English.Breaks are to be found throughout both days and we encourage people to engage as much as they are comfortable - you are welcome to have your cameras off.If you have any particular accessibility requirements, please email sam@romancingthegothic.com.
