Carrickmacross Lace Workshop

R Space is a visual arts and crafts space, presenting and commissioning a programme of exhibitions and arts activity based in The Linen Rooms in the heart of the City of Lisburn, Northern Ireland.R Space’s ambition is to increase access, understanding and enjoyment of contemporary visual arts, crafts, design and other related arts activities. It collaborates with a diverse range of excellent and challenging artists and designers working in different media, providing audiences from a wide range of educational, social and cultural backgrounds with different points of access to the arts.R Space is a lively and welcoming environment that excites visitors into thinking and talking about the arts and provides an opportunity to purchase visual arts and craft and for their own homes and collections.R Space exhibits  the work of artists and makers who explore Materials, Messages and Methods of production of work that has meaning in its quality. It is important that their work considers What they use, Why they use it and How they present its outcome.

Contemporary Carrickmacross Lace - Theresa Kelly R-Space Gallery and ACJSNI are delighted to offer a 3D Carrickmacross Lace Flax Flower workshop with National &amp; International award winning lace designer and maker Theresa Kelly.Kelly has had work exhibited in OIDFA World Lace Congress (Sally Johansson Award winner), The Cider Door, Montgambie Australia, The Brick Lane Gallery, London, Leiden Textile Festival to name but a few. Kelly has been awarded the Eleanor de Branchiere Award at the RDS Craft Competition Dublin on three occasions. Theresa regularly teaches with the Lace Museum, Sunnyvale America and this year she is one of the International Teachers with the Doily Free Zone SymposiumDuring the workshop participants will learn the basic techniques of Carrickmacross Lace including applique, loops and pops. The workshop will start at 11am and finish at 3pm, with a break for tea or coffee.Maximum number of participants = 8There will be a cover charge of £5 for each participant.
