3DOrbiSIMS Launch Event

<A HREF="https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The University of Nottingham</A> has received a £2.5m investment from the <A HREF="https://epsrc.ukri.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council</A> (EPSRC) towards state-of-the-art equipment which allows 3D label-free chemical imaging of materials, cells and tissues. We are celebrating the launch of the new 3DOrbiSIMS with a series of short talks on the exciting new science and technology associated with and enabled by the technique.
This will take place from 13.00-16.00 on Monday 14th January 2019 in the School of Chemistry Building, room X1.

The 3DOrbiSIMS is a device which images, in 3D, objects at ultra-high resolution. As well as providing physical information on the sample it also gives chemical information. As such this instrument will open the door to new research opportunities associated with higher resolution chemical imaging. It will now be possible to look at how bacteria interact with surfaces, delve deeper into polymer electronics, characterise targeted drug delivery and many other exciting processes. This can all be achieved without the chemical markers (labels) that have been needed to obtain this dual information previously.
Please join us on Monday 14th January 2019 when we will explore some of these opportunities and introduce you to the new 3DOrbiSIMS facility at the University of Nottingham.
