4- day Trouser Making Course

Join us for an exciting four-day workshop dedicated to the art of trouser making, where you will have the opportunity to create your own pair of trousers using a pre-made pattern.

On the first day, immerse yourself in the world of sewing as you familiarise yourself with a variety of sewing machines, including both flatbed and overlock machines. This hands-on session will focus on essential techniques, including sewing straight lines and mastering the threading and operation of each machine. You'll gain confidence in your skills as you experiment with different stitches and settings.

On the second day, we will concentrate on the practical assembly of your trousers. We will guide you through essential techniques, including how to sew a fly front. You will also learn how to finish the waistband and hem, ensuring your trousers have a refined, polished look.

What You’ll Learn:

Day 1: Foundations of Industrial Sewing

• Understanding the anatomy of industrial sewing machines
• Safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of common issues
• Threading, bobbin winding, and mastering stitch tension on a flatbed
• Practising speed control and precision for professional-quality results
• Practising straight lines, curves, and corners for precision sewing
• How to do a lay plan to reduce fabric waste
• Cutting the trousers

Days 2-4: Constructing the trousers

• Step-by-step guidance on constructing the trousers
• Adding finishing details such as a zip, buttonholes and buttons
• Stitching the waistband
• Hemming the trousers

• Location: FC Designer Workspace, 9 Durham Road, London N7 7FB
• Skill Level: Intermediate (basic sewing skills required).
• Must be over 16 years old

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the start of the workshop to receive a refund. Unfortunately, cancellations made within 48 hours will not be eligible for a refund.

Please bring to the first session:

• Around 1.5 metres of woven fabric (preferably, lightweight calico)
• Dress-making pins
• Fabric scissors
