Poland's geopolitical situation twixt three  empires in Europe has always presented  security challenges, how has it managed to survive.

Andrzej Nowak is a Polish historian and opinion journalist. He was born in November 1960 in Kraków, Poland. He is a professor at The Jagiellonian University and at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, where he is head of the Section for the History of Eastern Europe and the Empires of the 19th and 20th Centuries. In 1996 he was a visiting professor at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He was the co-founder and for many years (1994–2012) editor-in-chief of the prestigious conservative cultural-political magazine Arcana. He contributes to the monthly Wpis on a regular basis and is one of the main authors of the publishing house Biały Kruk. Andrzej Nowak has published extensively and written over 40 books.US-Est 06.30
