Focusing on Jay Lee’s Zombie Strippers! (2008) and Takao Nakano’s Big Tits Zombie (2010), I explore how the stripping space is used to enable murder in these narratives. In Lee’s case, every murder committed by a zombified stripper takes place in a private dance room in an illegal strip club; a shift of power dynamics that is presented as a warning to a male audience to avoid the &#x27;predatory strippers&#x27; in real life. Nakano’s presentation of the space that strippers operate in ‘others’ them immediately, taking place in a spa rather than at a strip club, allowing them to become victims to the zombified men much more easily. The power dynamics within a private striptease show have a complex relationship, as Jill Dolan and Kim Price-Glynn explore. For Dolan, the power lies with the stripper who controls the gaze (1988), yet for PriceGlynn, the issue is more deep-rooted with predatory heterosexuality and male control over rejection playing pivotal roles (2010). These viewpoints can coexist in application to these two films. Predatory heterosexuality can influence the control that strippers possess. For Nakano, this leads to the death of strippers; in Lee’s case, this leads to the patron’s death. Ultimately, this paper focuses on the differences in these narratives of death and victimhood, and how this presents strippers to a wider audience.
