A webinar about the process of creating a theatre production (and a linked documentary film) about communication and dementia

This is a free online event via Zoom. We will start at five past ten (10:05) and end at five to (10:55) to allow people to get between different events. We are the<a href="https://www.idealproject.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> IDEAL dementia research programme</a>, and have our main base at the University of Exeter.In this second session of the IDEAL Webinar Series, we discuss 'The World Turned Upside Down'. This play was performed to three audiences in Exeter in January 2022. On 23rd September 2022 we will release the documentary film which came out of the creation process and the performances.'The World Turned Upside Down: Using theatre to take a realistic look at dementia' takes the theme of communication, and situations where this could go better or worse depending on the reactions of the people surrounding a person with dementia. In this webinar, key people involved in creating the production share what they've learned from the process. In this session you will hear from:<ul><li>Dr Claire Pentecost, IDEAL Programme Manager and the Producer of the play and film</li><li>Paul Jepson, Director of 'The World Turned Upside Down'</li><li>Julia Burton, former carer and members of the ALWAYs involvement group, who worked on the play and film - including auditioning the actors!</li></ul>You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions! We intend to have 30 minutes of presentation and 20 minutes of Q&A.We will record the session to allow others to watch it afterwards. However, we will edit out questions if you don't want to be seen.
