After a short train journey, we will visit Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, on the outskirts of Southampton. We will walk in the park and along the shore of Southampton Water (which leads into the Solent and then the sea), visit the small museum about the old Royal Victoria Military Hospital and maybe even have a ride on the miniature railway. There is a cafe for ice creams and other refreshments.

If you are travelling from Southampton, we will meet at 1.15pm outside Southampton Central Station Platform 1 entrance (Blechynden Terrace, SO15 1AL). We will then catch the 1.35pm train to Netley.

If you are travelling from Winchester, we will meet you at Netley Station when we get off the train at 1.53pm. Please take the 1.07pm train from Winchester Station (Station Hill, Winchester, SO23 8TJ) to the small station of St Denys where you will then change trains to catch the 1.41pm train to Netley that the group from Southampton will be on.

Cost: You will need to buy a return train ticket from either Southampton Central Station (£4)or Winchester (£6) to Netley Station. You can buy your train ticket online in advance or at the station on the day. (You may wish to buy an annual railcard which will give you a discount on all train travel)

Please note that there is only one train every hour so please make sure that you are at the station on time. We would expect to get the train back leaving from Netley at 17.21, but you may want to get the train back an hour earlier. Those of you travelling from Winchester will travel back via Southampton Central Station not St Denys.
