This training covers the key principles of safeguarding legislation, and details appropriate courses of action with safeguarding concerns

Gateshead Interchange

Connected Voice Support and Development helps organisations to run successfully and make a positive difference in their communities. This training is for Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations serving Gateshead. If you are a staff member , trustee or volunteer who has contact with children or vulnerable adults, then it is essential that you understand what safeguarding is and are confident in carrying out your safeguarding responsibilities. This Level 2 training is delivered by Nick Doherty, Safeguarding Officer for Gateshead Council Learning &amp; Skills. It will cover:<ul><li>What is safeguarding?</li><li>Importance of safeguarding</li><li>Safeguarding legislation</li><li>Signs of abuse</li><li>Respond to a disclosure</li><li>Reporting a safeguarding concern</li><li>Record-keeping and confidentiality</li><li>Multi-agency working</li><li>Effective communication</li><li>Assessment </li></ul>Spaces are limited to a maximum of two attendees per organisation.Our training is funded from a variety of sources and free to eligible organisations. Please check the eligibility requirements for each session before signing up, as this varies from course to course. If your organisation is not eligible for a free session you may be interested in one of our <a href="https://www.connectedvoice.org.uk/services/support-and-development/tailored-training-and-facilitation" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">tailored training</a> packages.Keep up to date with the latest training and events from Connected Voice by <a href="https://www.connectedvoice.org.uk/newsletters" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">subscribing to our fortnightly email bulletin.</a>Evaluation This training session is free to attend but we ask that all participants complete a short evaluation on completion. This feedback enables us to continue delivering a free programme of training.For security and practical reasons: You can only book one place for yourself, using the email address you use. If a colleague wants to attend, they will need to book separately themselves. You must give us all the essential information requested so that we know your registration is genuine.Accessibility Gateshead Interchange is an accessible building. We can provide a BSL interpreter for training and events on request, but ask you to give us enough advance notice to enable this to be organised. To maximise resources, we are unable to provide BSL interpreters for all sessions unless we know this is essential.Instructions and any handouts or worksheets, will be emailed to you 24 hours ahead of the session start time by the named person hosting the session. It is essential you do not share this with anyone not registered to attend. Anyone not on the registration list will not be allowed into the session.Attendance and substitution On registration, please put the session you have booked for into your diary. We expect people who have registered to prioritise attendance and to make every effort to attend.If circumstances change, you must advise us as soon as possible if you cannot attend so that the place isn’t wasted. You must also advise us if a substitute person from your organisation is attending in your place. We will be monitoring non-attendance, and may not accept future bookings from regular non-attenders
