Celebrating Leith Weekender

Explore Leith through a activities & tours exploring our history from a range of different viewpoints, from the highs and lows of the past, to social circumstances of the 1980's that inspired Trainspotting, to links with Europe, to our built environment.

Tickets for this tour are no longer available online. Any remaining places will be allocated on a first come first served basis from the Leith for Ever stall at Dock Place Market on the 18th September. Please visit the Leith for Ever stall to enquire about additional places on this tour. 

An afternoon tour will also be taking place at 3pm, this is only bookable on the 18th September at the Leith for Ever Stall.

Introduction to Trainspotting and riverside industriesAuthor of Leith Chooses, and experienced Tour Guide Tim Bell leads this fascinating historical tour of the shore. Tim has studied the developments of Leith from its origins as Edinburgh castle’s access to the sea. Having recently been port chaplain, he talks knowledgeably about present shipping and future uses of the docks area.Meet on the steps of Custom House. Upstream to Junction Bridge, passing many sites of former maritime industries; downstream past the old hospital to Shore, viewing the docks from the blue swing bridge and back to Custom House. Mostly off-road.
