Seeking Asylum and Mental Health: More than a Book Launch Event

Rethink Rebuild Society (RR) is a Manchester-based charity that works towards improving the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants, in particular but not exclusively Syrians in the UK, helping them become positively established within British society.RR began informally after the start of the uprising in Syria in March 2011. In May 2013 it was formally registered as a company limited by guarantee in England and Wales (Company No. 08528808) and then registered as a charity in England in Wales in April 2018 (Charity No. 1177807)Our work is executed by a team of employees and community volunteers, and we depend on the contributions of RR members and donations from RR friends.

<h1>Seeking Asylum and Mental Health</h1><h2>More than a Book Launch Event</h2>Thursday 6 October 2022 at 6.30-8pm Rethink Rebuild Society, First Floor, Discovery House, Crossley Rd, Levenshulme, Manchester SK4 5BH<h3>In this special event, we will hear from editors and authors of the book Asylum Seekers and Mental Health: a Practical Guide for Professionals. We will also hear from Naima Al gwil about her experience while seeking asylum and needing mental health care. </h3>We will explore issues affecting people seeking asylum, and refugees, including: •	How professionals and others can make a difference, even with limited resources, •	How well-intentioned attempts to help might cause harm•	How what clinicians write can affect asylum decisions, and people’s futures This event is for anyone interested in the welfare and wellbeing of people seeking asylum - in particular those working in health, social care and the law.This event is FREE, but please register to help us know how many attendees to expect. One ticket option is donation to support those who wish to buy the book but may not afford to do so.
