<h2>Bridging the Silos: Autistics and Menopause is a research partnership between autistic advocates and academics studying menopausal experiences of autistic people in Canada and the UK. <h2>Bridging the Silos: Autistics and Menopause is a research partnership between autistic advocates and academics studying menopausal experiences of autistic people in Canada and the UK.  </h2><h2><strong>Our team of autistic, neurodivergent, and allistic (non-autistic) academics and autistic community research associates are conducting a multi-stage, multimodal and participatory study. In our three-phase study, we aim to understand: a) how autistic people experience menopause, b) how information about menopause can be accessibly conveyed, and c) how autistic communities can meaningfully guide research in this area.    </strong></h2><h2><strong>In our first phase, which took place in April and May of 2022, we conducted focus groups and interviews in Canada and the UK. These were aimed at informing the design of our next phase, an international, online survey exploring menopausal experiences and support needs which we hope to launch in early 2023. Our current phase of the study has just started: autistic participants are invited to send creative submissions focused on their menopause experiences.   </strong></h2><h2><strong>Our research aims to bridge disciplinary silos (by involving academics from psychology, social work, communication and media studies, and english), connect academic and community members, capture cross-cultural, international experiences, and reach and include autistic minority groups (e.g. marginalised ethnic and LGBTQIA+ adults). By offering different modes of participation, including arts, text, and oral contributions, we aim to push the boundaries of accessibility and recognise intersectionality.    </strong></h2><h2><strong>Bridging the Silos is funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and team members include Community Research Associates and academics from Carleton University, Canada and Bournemouth University, UK.
