Communities & Unloved Land: Communities' Rights to Land and Buildings

We hold seasonal networking events where members share a meal and learn more about each other’s work. These events usually feature short talks from interesting speakers as well as some structured discussion of ways to develop and improve our food systems.W﻿e also host a range of project events such as foraging sessions, composting masterclasses, professional development programmes for community practitioners, cooking workshops and growing courses.

Many Studios

The Growing Communities East Group is a support and networking group hosted by Glasgow Community Food Network&#x27;s Food &amp; Climate Action Project to support individuals and local organisations in Glasgow&#x27;s East End to work on food and climate related projects together.The group is open to organisations and individuals in Glasgow&#x27;s East End and other parts of the city who are interested in or already working on food and/ or climate activities. No prior knowledge needed!This month we are partnering up with Many Studios, Community Ownership Support Services, The Open University and The Glass-House Community Led Design Partnership to offer you a very special meeting with the theme:Communities and Unloved Land - what are the opportunities for groups to do something beautiful and valuable in small areas around Glasgow?Glasgow&#x27;s East End has plenty of unused spaces and derelict land which could be used for food growing and as community spaces. In this meeting we will hear about- Many Studios and their hopes for a small patch of land near the Barras- The Community Ownership Support Service and rights for communities around land and buildings- The Concrete Garden - an example of how communities can come together to create beautiful spacesFree lunch provided.Access and Covid-19 info:This event is hosted at Many Studios on Ross Street in the Barras. The space has level access from Ross Street, and we have an accessible toilet adjacent, but let us know if anyone has additional access requirements or requires further information. There is cash-only paid parking opposite the site, or free parking on adjacent streets. We also have bike storage inside - if anyone is cycling they are welcome to bring their bike indoors.Travel costs can be reimbursed. Please do not attend if you feel unwell, have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or have tested positive yourself.
