IDEAL Programme

A webinar about dementia research into the effects of maintaining connections with your community: our social lives help our health!

This is a free online event via Zoom. We will start at five past one (13:05) and end at five to (13:55) to allow people to get between different events. We are the<a href="https://www.idealproject.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> IDEAL dementia research programme</a>, and have our main base at the University of Exeter.In this third session of the IDEAL Webinar Series, we consider what our research findings tell us about social and community connection in dementia. We know that loneliness and isolation can affect quality of life, and that community support can offer people affected by dementia a real lifeline. In this session you will hear from:<ul><li>Professor Christina Victor, Co-Investigator on IDEAL Programme Manager and Professor of Gerontology and Public Health and Vice Dean (Research) in the College of Health and Life Sciences at Brunel University, as well as the Ageing Studies Theme Leader in the Institute of Environment, Health and Societies.</li><li>Allison who lives with dementia in Northern Ireland. She is part of the ALWAYs group, which advises on all of IDEAL&#x27;s research and helps us co-produce resources. Allison was part of the co-production team for the Living with Dementia Toolkit and before that worked on &#x27;My Life, My Goals&#x27;. </li><li>Keith who lives with dementia in Canterbury. He is part of the ALWAYs group, which advises on all of IDEAL&#x27;s research and helps us co-produce resources. Keith was part of the co-production team for the Living with Dementia Toolkit, is a published author and an international dementia advocate. </li></ul>You&#x27;ll also have the opportunity to ask questions! We intend to have 25 minutes of presentation and 25 minutes of Q&amp;A.We will record the session to allow others to watch it afterwards. However, we will edit out questions if you don&#x27;t want to be seen. One survey will be sent out after the event after which we will delete your contact information.
