A webinar discussing the economic aspects of dementia  and what these might suggest for policy and practice.

This is a free online event via Zoom. We will start at five past two (14:05) and end at five to (14:55) to allow people to get between different events. We are the<a href="https://www.idealproject.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> IDEAL dementia research programme</a>, and have our main base at the University of Exeter.In this fourth session of the IDEAL Webinar Series, we turn to health economics. What does research tell us about how we can best use public funds to meet the challenges presented by dementia? This is a complex question which receives a lot of media attention as both the underfunding of the NHS and projected significant increases in dementia diagnoses make headlines. In this webinar, experts discuss their perspectives on such things as funding gaps, underappreciated costs and more. Drawing on IDEAL&#x27;s research but also a wider constellation of research endeavours, this discussion will be of particular interest to policymakers.In this session you will hear from:<ul><li>Professor Martin Knapp, Professor of Health and Social Care Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), based in the Health Policy Department and Co-Investigator on IDEAL Programme.</li><li>Dr Cate Henderson, Assistant Professorial Research Fellow in the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the London School of Economics (LSE) and economist on the IDEAL programme.</li><li>George Rook who lives with dementia and has done a wealth of work in raising awareness around dementia: he <a href="https://georgerook51.wordpress.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">blogs about his experiences</a>, records <a href="https://www.dementiavoices.org.uk/group/the-4-amigos/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">videos with the Four Amigos</a> and much, much more.</li></ul>You&#x27;ll also have the opportunity to ask questions! We intend to have 30 minutes of presentation and 20 minutes of Q&amp;A.We will record the session to allow others to watch it afterwards.
