Redcliffe Community Orchard

Apple and pear trees should be pruned in winter to maintain a healthy shape and size and to ensure they will fruit plentifully for future decades. We will teach you the theory and practice of winter fruit tree pruning, and together we will help to maintain the fruit trees at Redcliffe Community Orchard in Keighley.If you have them, please bring along a sharp pair of secateurs, loppers, a pruning saw and a pair of rubber grip gardening gloves. Tools and gloves will be provided if you don’t have your own.Participants will each receive a copy of Chloe Ward's excellent <a href="https://www.waterstones.com/book/how-to-prune-an-apple-tree/chloe-ward/9780993059308" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">pruning guide</a> "for real people with imperfect trees".The orchard is accessible from the end of Redcliffe Avenue or Devonshire Street (between #190 &amp; #192).This event is free for Keighley residents only. Anyone attending from outside of Keighley is asked to select the 'Donation' ticket option. The recommended donation is £20, but this can be more or less depending on your circumstance.
