As flight cancellations continue to be a major problem for many travellers, consumers are still facing disruption and suffering the consequences (e.g., disappointment, stress, unrecoverable cost and lost holidays). Our research reveals that consumers generally trust airlines to look after them, however, some consumers have had negative experiences with claiming refunds, travel vouchers or rebooking or have been left out of pocket.This event will provide opportunities for attendees to understand their consumer rights as air passengers and for airlines to reach out to their consumers. Consumer rights experts will talk about what passengers can do when their flights are cancelled and possible avenues for redress while airline representatives will share how they are responding to the crisis and provide an overview of recent changes in flight cancellation policies. Attendees will be allowed to ask questions from our panel. The event is organised by Dr Carmela Bosangit (Cardiff Business School) and Dr Sara Drake (School of Law and Politics)of Cardiff University and Dr Charlotte Rimmer, Bangor Business School, Bangor University as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2022.
