Placemaking workshop to explore lighting and safety within Kelvingrove Park

Glasgow City Council has committed to look into providing sensitive lighting solutions in parks, which consider both equality and climate impacts. We’re looking for local knowledge and professional input to help develop ideas for Kelvingrove Park.The workshops will include community discussions about park safety, giving a wider perspective on different approaches to lighting in parks. We will start with a bite to eat and a brief presentation on placemaking followed by a walk around Kelvingrove Park. The workshop is free to attend but numbers are limited for night time safety reasons, we&#x27;d love you to come but please only book a space if you plan to attend. When registrations are full you will be able to add your name to a waiting list and we will contact you if another workshop is scheduled or a place becomes available.Comfort and safety at the workshopThe in-person workshop is at a time when we can visit the park at dusk and in darkness to best consider safety and lighting in these conditions. We will walk around the park in small, facilitated groups with a staff member in each group. It&#x27;s in October so there is the potential for cold and wet weather and we kindly ask that people dress appropriately with suitable footwear. If you would like to participate but don&#x27;t feel comfortable walking around the park in the dark, please let us know in the registration process. We will try to accommodate your needs and and allow you to contribute your views.
