JHMRF Meet the Researchers events are networking meetings for mesothelioma researchers, patients and their families, friends and carers.

June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund&#x27;s latest Meet the Researchers event will feature the targeted delivery of treatments for Hard-to-Treat Cancers. Mesothelioma is one of the cancers being studied by the Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration (IRC) based at the University of Cambridge. The IRC is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).The IRC is a partnership of scientists, engineers and clinicians with a shared ambition to improve treatments for cancers which do not respond well to existing therapies. The technologies they are working on include molecular “delivery vehicles” which can be loaded up with drug molecules to deliver the drug more effectively to the tumour; and implantable devices and injectable gels that can deliver the drug directly to the tumour site.C﻿laire McGlynn, the IRC programme manager, and Professor Stefan Marciniak will give a brief introduction to the IRC and an overview of the IRC&#x27;s mesothelioma research strategy. Researchers Xiewen Liu, Giulia Emanuelli and Sarah Barnett will then talk about their individual research projects followed by group discussion and plenty of time for questions from participants.H﻿ope you can join us.
