Documents will be sent out in advance - we will not provide printed copies on the day, so please make sure you have access to them.</blockquote>11:00 - Using the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB) to develop your career<ul><li>P﻿KSB 11.8: Reflective practice</li></ul><blockquote>How to use CILIP&#x27;s Professional Knowledge &amp; Skills Base to assess your current level of practice against this sector skills standard. Did you know that it can be used to identify training needs and to prepare for appraisals, CILIP Professional Registration, career development and planning, job applications and progression?  Explore the options in this session run by Donna Gundry &amp; Nicola Forgham-Healy, CILIP-SW PRSOs.  </blockquote>11:30 - “Social justice – isn’t that political?”<ul><li>PKSB: Values and Ethics plus specific sub-sections including: PKSB 10.5: Service innovation, development and design</li></ul><blockquote>John Vincent&#x27;s talk will look at what social justice is, and then consider whether libraries are/can be neutral (including the role of CILIP). We will look at some ideas of what works, and actions that we can all take – focusing particularly on Libraries of Sanctuary (and the growing movement in the SW).</blockquote><blockquote>John Vincent has worked in the public sector since the 1960s, primarily for Hertfordshire, Lambeth and Enfield public library services. In 1997, he was invited to become part of the team that produced the UK’s first review of public libraries and social exclusion (from which The Network, which he now coordinates, originated). John runs courses and lectures, writes, produces regular newsletters and ebulletins, and lobbies for greater awareness of the role that libraries, archives, museums, and the cultural and heritage sector play in contributing to social justice. He is particularly interested in supporting the work that libraries do with people seeking sanctuary and other ‘new arrivals’ to the UK, with young people in care, and with LGBTQ+ people. </blockquote>12.30 - Lunch<blockquote>Bring your own or sample the on-site café: The Owl and the Pussycat coffee house. </blockquote>13:15 - Librarians&#x27; Question Time<ul><li>PKSB: Wider library, data, information and knowledge sector context</li></ul><blockquote>Your chance to ask about library and information careers in different sectors.
