Fabrica is a space where everyone can experience art. Through immersive exhibitions and commissions, we introduce visitors to the work of celebrated international and at the same time, we support and commission emerging artists, giving them the financial and creative support to make engaging and thought provoking work. This way, art is always here to surprise, challenge and inspire our communities.Cultural experiences at Fabrica are often immersive, shaped around our Grade II listed building. No prior knowledge of art is needed to step inside, and to engage, enjoy and respond. At Fabrica, our audiences can experience art in other unexpected ways:  through our ever-changing calendar of film screenings, talks, group discussions and community led events. And through a holistic programme of workshops where they might create sculptures, prints, drawings, textiles that supports learning and increases wellbeing. October Half Term at Fabrica 2023

Join us this half term for a series of a series of engaging and creative workshops for Children, plus an afternoon family film screening. of Boy and the World.

Presented in partnership with <a href="https://www.littlegreenpig.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Little Green Pig </a>What does it feel like to be in the sea? What words can express the emotions of swimming? Children aged 7 to 12 are invited to explore these ideas at a creative writing and storytelling workshop responding to Fabrica's autumntime exhibition <a href="https://www.fabrica.org.uk/at-home-in-the-water" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">At Home in the Water</a> by artist Vanessa Daws, which explores the experience of open water swimming and interweaves the voices and histories of sea swimmers. During this creative writing and oral heritage workshop, children will get to meet and interview members of <a href="https://seabirdsltd.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Salty Seabirds</a> as well as explore the exhibition's stories and film projections. Young writers can take inspiration for their own poetry and prose from exchanging tales with members from this local sea swimming community. Children can find out how it feels to swim all year round and share their own sensory tales of swimming too. A great way for young creatives to test the waters and develop their journalism, podcast interviewing and writing skills! Led by Little Green Pig workshop leader and writer Anita Kate Garai, with support from story mentors and special guest swimmers from Salty Seabirds. Please note, it is not necessary for parents/guardians to stay for this event. Please return on time at 11.30am for collection. Spaces are limited, so please reserve your child’s place in advance and please do let us know if circumstances change. All children age 7-12yrs are welcome, with priority tickets for participants from the Tarner &amp; Carlton Hill communities. Little Green Pig is a local writing and mentoring charity based in Brighton &amp; Hove. They believe in the right to write, and that this vital form of self-expression builds confidence, communication and literacy skills. <ul><li>We recommend booking in advance for this event as places are limited. Bookings can also be made in person during gallery opening hours by speaking to a member of the gallery team or at Fabrica during office hours (no booking fee applies). Once paid for, tickets are non-refundable.
