Asphyxia is an independent platform for new alternative music in Belfast.

Post-punk / electronic trio Chalk hit Ulster Sports Club with experimental rapper YINYANG & electronica ambient act HY:LY.

Ulster Sports Club

Chalk is an Irish three piece post-punk/electronic project based in Belfast. The project was formed in 2019 after meeting at film school. Influenced by their love of film and the emerging Belfast dance scene, Chalk’s image-driven soundscape is composed of wailing guitars, a relentless rhythm section, and a raw, visceral spoken-word style. Their debut single, <a href="https://youtu.be/urZJAY7YcO8" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">‘Them’</a>, which won Steve Lamacq’s 6 Music Roundtable Record of the Week, was recorded with producer Chris W Ryan, known for his work with Irish acts Just Mustard, NewDad &amp; Enola Gay.Irish artist Lauren Hannan, better known as YINYANG, continues to establish herself as one of the most distinctive and exciting artists in recent memory. Raver at heart HY: LY blends the dance floor percussion of techno &amp; drum &amp; bass with elements of psychedelic rock, via her own vocal delivery and field recordings to create an abstract melting pot of energy. Her intensity and presence as a performer seemed to fill the room, boding well for a very bright future.
