R﻿ Consultancy in conjunction with The Hackney Archives bring you an artistic display / exhibition of Traditional Carnival Mas costumes created from the first ever print material dedicated to the Windrush Generation.T﻿he Wynderush Legacy Print Collection is designed by Karen Hamilton-Bannis of A.K. Wilde, a UK print designer who has dedicated a series of prints to the Windrush Generation, which is the first in UK history. She uses a vast array of colours and intricate stencil patterns that depict the vibrancy, determination and the Caribbean cultures of the Windrush generation. The Windrush costumes have been made by Bambola Creations on behalf of R Consultancy and the Windrush19 members, who will be displaying the costumes at various UK carnivals in 2023. A﻿longside the costume display will be a number of reading materials selected by the Hackney Archive team illustrating the connections between the Windrush generation and the Hackney carnival.Y﻿ou can visit the display /exhibition on wednesday, thursday and fridays from 10am - 6pm from the 14th Oct - 17th Dec. T﻿he Archives are located on the 2nd floor of the CLR James Library - Dalston Square E8, and has lift access. W﻿ith thanks to Hackney Council who funded the project and the Hackney Archives who have provided the space and collaborated on the display instillation.
