This event is for University of Portsmouth Staff only.These information sessions are aimed at sharing information and guidance on preparing an application for promotion to Reader or Professor. They will provide an opportunity to learn more about the role and expectations of Readers and Professors within the University of Portsmouth, directly from the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, who will outline the procedure and process of applying for promotion. You will also hear from recently-appointed Professors and Readers, who will share their experiences of the process and discuss points which could contribute to a good application. There will be time in each session for participant Q and A. It is recommended that all attendees familiarise themselves with the relevant <a href="https://policies.docstore.port.ac.uk/policy-082.pdf?_ga=2.106173825.303315973.1663148491-1084293930.1632983609" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">promotion criteria*</a> before attending a session, and we encourage people to attend a session as soon as they are starting to think about preparing to apply. We are actively encouraging attendance of those in under-represented groups as part of our commitment to increasing the number of applications from women, or those who identify as women, and BAME colleagues.Please note: These sessions are planned to complement local (Faculty/Dept./Sch.) support for promotion.
