We are The Conservation Volunteers.We bring people together to create, improve and care for green spaces. From local parks and community gardens to Local Nature Reserves and Sites of Special Scientific Interest; from school grounds and hospital grounds to waterways, wetlands and woodlands; we connect people to the green spaces that form a vital part of any healthy, happy community.Our team of dedicated, passionate staff and volunteers work with communities across England, Northern Ireland and Scotland and, through our Community Network, we support local community groups across the UK.

Activity description:
<ul><li>Introduction to common bird species and survey method -15min 
</li><li>Guided transect survey around the site – 45 min
</li><li>The data collected informs our local nature conservation work and contribute to wider conservation projects. 
</li></ul>

Walk through the iron gates and meet in front of the cabins

Site description: 
Railway Fields Nature Reserve is in the heart of Harringay, North London, where it offers a piece of tranquillity away from busy Green Lanes. This former disused railway goods yard now boasts a Green Flag award for environmental quality. Among the habitats found here is woodland, scrub, meadow, pond and marshland. Lush vegetation blocks out noise from surrounding streets, and 21 kinds of butterfly have been recorded as well as more than 60 species of birds.
