P﻿HOTOGRAPHERS EDUCATION AND NETWORKING DAYWe are delighted to present for the first time in the gallery a series of talks by 3 local professional photographers Mathieu Decodts (Mathieudecodtsphotography), Rebecca Brownlie (AbandonedNI) and Frankie Quinn (Belfast Archive Project) Saturday 29 October 12-5 pm 12.30 1.30 Rebecca Brownlie (Abandon NI)Rebecca grew up in a small rural village in County Down, Northern Ireland. When she was just 12 years old, she won her first camera on a TV game show and her love of photography was sparked. From that day on, a camera is rarely far from her side. Her passion for abandoned buildings and love of photography has led her to appear on several local television shows on UTV, BBC, and RTE featuring some of Ireland&#x27;s lost buildings. Her forthcoming book &#x27;Abandoned Ireland&#x27; will be in shops and ready to buy in November 2022. Rebecca will talk about her journey and her work. https://www.abandonedni.com/ 2.30-3.30pm Mathieu Decodts PhotographyA gifted artist who has worked with pencil, paint and clay, Mathieu discovered a passion for photography in his artistic development that has not left him since. A full-time professional photographer and teacher of photography, what separates him from many photographers is that he treats photography as an art form, for him, it is just another medium to express his creativity. Mathieu applies artistic concepts of visual weight, composition, colour theory, patterns and geometry to his abstract photography work.His preferred specialisms are portrait photography and abstract art photography.His work has been published in the Ulster Tatler, Belfast Telegraph, Good Light Magazine to name a few.&quot;Mathieu will be doing a live &quot;through the camera&quot; demonstration of portrait photography with questions and answers as he goes.https://www.mathieudecodtsphotography.com/ 4-5pm Frankie Quinn (Belfast Archive Project)Born in 1966 into the Short Strand /Ballymacarret community where he still lives.He began documentary photography in 1982. He holds an MFA in photography From The University of Ulster and he is currently the director of the Belfast Archive Project As part of his MFA photography degree at UU (2016-18), he was asked to write about 10 photos. Frankie will talk about getting to know your tool, the ‘decisive moment’ The photo as memory, ‘Luck in photography, the camera as a nomadic weapon, the insider objectivity. https://www.frankiequinn.com/http://www.belfastarchiveproject.com/T﻿his event is open to all.
