</p><p><a href="https://leeds2023.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LEEDS 2023</a> is excited to be working on a  series of monthly free digital storytelling workshops in partnership with <a href="https://digitalinclusionleeds.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">100% Digital Leeds</a>, making creative software more accessible to Leeds communities. This will be the seventh and final workshop in the series.

</p><p>Used to some of the worlds most popular games such as, <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/268910/Cuphead/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cuphead</a>, <a href="https://goose.game/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Untitled Goose Game</a>, <a href="https://beatsaber.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Beat Saber</a> and <a href="https://pokemongolive.com/en/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pokémon Go</a> to name a few, <a href="https://unity.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Unity</a> is an incredibly powerful game engine.

</p><p>Led by LEEDS 2023’s Creative Technologist Adam Skowronski and aimed at absolute beginners,  this workshop will be an introduction to the interface,  basic concepts, and some of the functionality of this powerful free software.

</p><p>Attendees will follow a step-by-step walk through of some of Unity&#x27;s basic functionality and, by the end of the workshop, will have created and animated a Zelda-type video game character.

</p><h1>Workshop requirements
</h1><p>
</p><h2>Bring a laptop
</h2><p>
</p><p>Attendees will need to bring a laptop. To streamline the workshop, please <a href="https://unity.com/download" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">download Unity</a> before you arrive. Unity is quite an intensive program and may not work on all laptops. We advise you test Unity by opening it up before coming to make sure your laptop can use it.

</p><p>Follow this <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmaSkdBakpo" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">tutorial</a> on how to open a Unity project.</p><h2>No need for previous experience</h2><p>This interactive workshop is for people who have never used a game engine before and are wanting to learn the very basics. You don&#x27;t need and knowledge or experience of video game making or coding attend.</p><p>

</h2><ul><li>The workshop is open to anyone over the age of 18.
</li><li>The workshop is hosted at <a href="https://bruntwood.co.uk/our-locations/leeds/platform/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Platform</a> near the Leeds Train station.
</li><li>All participants will be given the option of claiming a free First bus Day rider if needed to attend the workshop.
</li><li>You will have the opportunity to tell us about any accessibility needs at the point of booking.

</p><p>This is the seventh in the <a href="https://digitalinclusionleeds.com/free-creative-digital-storytelling-workshops" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">creative digital storytelling series</a>, giving attendees new ways to share their own stories and the stories of the people you work with using free and easy to use digital tools. This workshop is the last in the current series but we will return in 2023  with more workshops after reading feedback from workshop participants.

</p><h2>Who are the workshops for?
</h2><p>
</p><p>The workshops are for anyone who is new to digital design software, people that want to learn new skills for themselves or to share with the people and communities they work with, or anyone who wants to explore new ways to make digital content. These workshops will enable you to make artworks and create digital content for your organisation or businesses and will give everyone taking part new skills to use as part of LEEDS 2023 year of culture. The workshops are open to anyone over the age of 18.

</p><p>The workshops will give you the skills for capturing and sharing the impact of your work and creating engaging content for your social media or website. The same skills could be brought into your creative events programming and used to help the people and communities you work with to record and share their stories and creative work, upskill them and teach them new skills. These free workshops will be breaking down the perceptions that digital software&#x27;s are difficult to use, expensive and inaccessible.
