darts creates art with people in Doncaster to improve life, learning and health. We make high-quality, inclusive, creative experiences across the borough of Doncaster. Our programmes are open to everyone, particularly those who have the least access to the arts. Friendly, relaxed sessions for music leaders and educators

The All Aboard Music Network is a friendly, relaxed space for musicians, music leaders and educators to come together to share, learn and develop their skills in music-making with Disabled children and young people. Meetings will be held over zoom and are free to attend. Each session will look at different elements and themes and will be hosted by a team of experienced musicians, educators and creatives who can offer insight, guidance and practical tips. There will be guest talks from the panel, as well as a space for discussions, time to ask questions and a chance to seek advice from the group. This network is for people at all stages of their development, so no prior experience is necessary, just a passion for making music accessible to all! The session on the 23rd March will explore some considerations for working with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) ASD and ADHD and some principles that have been identified as key foundations for creating positive relationships and outcomes, shared by outstanding music practitioners working in SEMH special education. This meeting’s panelVerity Watts has spent over 20 years in education, first as a drama teacher and then for 12 years as a senior leader and Associate Executive Principal of an outstanding 5-16 SEMH special school and PRU, where she also completed an MA in understanding children with SEMH, with Distinction.  She is now a freelance consultant, coach, mindfulness teacher, Kundalini Yoga teacher, a UKCP Relational Integrative Psychotherapist in Advanced Training and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training.  She is passionate about an embodied, trauma informed approach to supporting children and adults to overcoming barriers to achieve their potential.  She has two grown up daughters, two cats and lives in Yorkshire. Dyzelle Sutherland is a violinist, community musician and string instructor. Her work at darts allows her to help people of all ages and abilities to make music and be creative. Dyzelle is passionate about music education and making access to music available to everyone. She is currently managing and delivering on a 3 year Youth Music funded project working across all of Doncaster’s special schools, which aims to help Disabled young people to improve musical skills and communication through music and Makaton.Please contact Sophie on sophie@wearedarts.org.uk if you have any questions.
