Learn the concepts of virtual production (VP) and how this can be applied to your business with <a href="https://www.onsetfacilities.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">On-Set Facilities</a> during a two-day hands-on production lab at the Hi3 Network hub in Maidstone. We will focus on real-time compositing with Simulcam: live-action filmmaking integrating and interacting with digital assets and environments in real-time. With the intention of helping to democratise virtual production, we will be using a green screen and camera tracking to understand the principles of real-time production without or before working with an LED wall. Creating virtual scenes in game engines creates a shift of focus from post-production to pre-production. Traditional use of green screen technology allows for the integration of VFX and environments in post-production, where the use of green screen and a camera tracking system allows digital environments and assets to be visible in-camera, so you see the live footage and digital assets while filming.Please use this helpful <a href="https://www.vpglossary.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">VP Glossary</a>, if you need further clarification of the terms within the VP spectrum. Day One will cover the basic concepts and components of virtual production, as well as the benefits and use-cases across industries (such as esports, live broadcasting, filmmaking, fashion, advertising, metaverse, etc). In small groups, we will be focusing on pre-production and world building. You will pull together your ideal virtual world in Unreal engine, combining and optimising your digital environment with 3D assets. Day Two will be a mixture of bringing our virtual world to life in the studio, networking and 1-2-1 sessions to scope out how you might implement virtual production in your future projects. In the studio, you and your group will see the benefits of using Simulcam first hand as we film a live-action scene (a Keynote speech or Product Pitch video) with your composited environment from the day before. During the networking and 1-2-1s, we have time to throw around ideas and scope out if there is the possibility of collaborating with Hi3 Network and On-Set Facilities on a project beyond the two-day workshop. By the end of the two days, you will have taken part in the pre-production of a virtual set and created a sequence in the studio using real-time compositing.
