Join us to find out all about the new Trees & Woodland Strategy Toolkit and how it can help your Local Authority develop or update their own

The Tree Council is delighted to invite Local Authorities to the online launch event for the Trees and Woodland Strategy (TAWS) Toolkit – an innovative new resource designed to empower LAs to create or update their own strategies and action plans for trees. Funded by Defra, and co-created by The Tree Council, Forestry Commission, Fera Science and Forest Research, the new toolkit provides practical guidance on how to produce and implement a local strategy. At the heart of the toolkit, is a series of informative case studies created in collaboration with Local Authorities at different stages of strategy development and delivery. They generously share their experience, pitfalls and suggestions to others embarking on their own TAWS journey. The toolkit also highlights how Local Authorities can draw on the current exceptional levels of Government funding for tree-planting, to enhance local communities and respond to climate change and biodiversity loss. This online event will introduce the toolkit, how it was created, how Local Authorities can best use it and highlight opportunities to get involved in regional workshops and ongoing research in 2023. We welcome anyone working within or alongside Local Authorities to the event, as well as other organisations and groups involved in tree strategies. The session will begin with an introductory message from Defra and will be followed by a series of short presentations from Fera Science and The Tree Council, plus a panel discussion with Local Authorities featured in the toolkit.
