Learn basic techniques and help create textile artwork for Seventeen Nineteen

Seventeen Nineteen - Holy Trinity Church

Textiles sessions on February 1st and 15th will be facilitated by artist Kerry Cook. We will design and make an exciting collaborative piece of textile art that will be displayed in the altar area of 17Nineteen. The piece will take inspiration from the history and unique story of the 17Nineteen building and will be a bright and beautiful addition to its interior.
Textiles workshop 1
This session will focus on applique and patchwork techniques, looking at pattern, form and design. We will look at translating our ideas on paper to a tactile piece of textile art.
Textiles workshop 2
This session will focus on embellishment and embroidery techniques for objects that will be viewed from a distance.
T﻿his workshop has been developed by our volunteers to support makers in Sunderland to share soical time making something collaboratively with expert guidance. <h3>T﻿he Details</h3><ul><li>A﻿ll materials are included but you&#x27;re welcome to bring your sewing kit to use your prefered tools and materials</li><li>A﻿ll activity will take place on our ground floor and will be wheelchair accessible</li><li>C﻿offee, tea and light snacks will be available for purchase from our servery </li><li>N﻿o experience is needed, but keen sewers are welcome to help beginners learn the ropes</li><li>You don&#x27;t need to attend every session , each workshop will focus on a different technique or subject so you can build your skills or develop new ones.</li></ul>
