National Apprenticeship Week 2023 (6 – 12 February) aims to shine a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country, whilst showcasing and encouraging everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help both with new talent and to upskill the existing workforce to develop #skillsforlife.

To join in on the national and cross-sectoral celebrations, the double award-winning Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) is hosting three regional events for potential and existing ATAC employers, and its current apprentices.

This is the Midlands, Oxfordshire and SW England event and will be held in:

o Birmingham – Wednesday 8th February - 11am-2pm

Background

In 2018, following interim funding from the Gatsby Foundation, the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) was established via the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, funded by Innovate UK, to develop the first apprenticeship programme designed specifically to train and upskill individuals to develop, manufacture and deliver innovative advanced therapies at scale.

The community has since flourished, with almost 300 apprentices from over 50 companies on programme, and demand continually rising.

In 2022, ATAC received the prestigious BioIndustry Association Richard Wilson Impact Award, which is nominated and voted for by the bioprocessing community, as well as the much esteemed Princess Royal Training Award for tackling skills shortages in the sector.

The success of the ATAC programme is a credit to the original funders Gatsby, current funders Innovate UK, employers, stakeholders and of course the apprentices! We look forward to celebrating this team effort and showing how apprenticeships really can help develop #skillsforlife.
