Growing Dahlias with Expert Darren Everest

The Dunsfold and Hascombe Horticultural Society was formed in 1925 with the express aim of encouraging the love of gardening both for personal pleasure and good health.  The Society has community at the heart of its ethos and welcomes anyone in Dunsfold, Hascombe and the surrounding area that has a shared interest in gardening and wishes to learn more about good practice whether it be for ornamental gardens or growing vegetables and fruit for the family.  All are welcome.

Dahlia expert Darren Everest will share his expertise on growing dahlias in your own garden.

For our final lecture, we are delighted to have dahlia and sweet pea expert, Darren Everest, share his top tips on propagating, growing and caring for dahlias - one of the best and most versatile cut flower. Darren is very keen to pass on his formidable knowledge to new growers and to show gardeners that many exhibition quality varieties are perfectly happy in most gardens. Dahlias are useful additions to any garden given they can be successful grown in both pots and borders and bloom from early summer into Autumn, thus extending the flowering season. In addition, their size, structure and shape fit nicely into modern gardening designs....Darren&#x27;s passion for dahlias began as a young boy when he stumbled upon these gorgeous blooms at a local flower show and was given some tubers to grow the next year. He has been growing Dahlias for exhibition for over 35 years now. Over the last 13 years Darren has had the opportunity to put more time into his flowers and has enjoyed many successes at regional and national level. Darren also displays at some of the countries leading garden shows including Blenheim Palace and Hampton Court flower festival. Tickets are free for Dunsfold &amp; Hascombe Horticultural Society (DHHS) members and £5 for non-DHHS members and can be purchased via Eventbrite using the link below. Lectures will last approximately 60-90 minutes including Q&amp;A.Attendees will be sent a Zoom link 2 days prior to the start of the talk, and again a few hours before the talk. A link to the recorded session (available for 1 week) will be sent shortly afterwards.
