The Poetry Door

Our free monthly workshop series for how to write for self-expression and social justice, run by Serena Alagappan. Each month we'll have an engaging theme and prompts to help you use writing for empathy and empowerment. No experience is necessary!

In these workshops, we will consider how poetry can be a tool for self-expression and social justice, for empathy, and empowerment.Everyone has something valuable to express and poetry can help us process our own experiences and learn about the experiences of others. Through readings, interactive exercises, group writing games, and generative prompts, we will explore the power and joy of writing together.We&#x27;ll be working in a variety of forms, inspired by a diverse set of voices and themes. Looking forward to collaborating with you all and seeing your beautiful words!These sessions will be led by Serena Alagappan. Serena is a young writer and researcher interested in the impact of creative writing on society. She has studied at Princeton and Oxford Universities and published her work in literary journals across the US and UK.This workshop is suited for anyone aged 13+.
