Investigate unexplained goings-on in one of Leeds' oldest buildings...

The Leeds Library, founded in 1768 and housed in its purpose-built premises on Commercial Street since 1808, has a famous resident ghost called Vincent Sternberg, who was first sighted in 1884 by the librarian at the time J.Y.W MacAlister. The present staff have also reported unexplained activity including footsteps on the galleries, feelings of being watched and even a full-bodied apparition. By demonstrating authentic Victorian methods, as well as using modern ghost hunting equipment, participants will explore the rich history of paranormal investigations as well as gain an understanding about how to conduct an investigation scientifically.

The night will include:
•	A tour of The Leeds Library with details about its history and paranormal activity
•	Victorian style techniques as they would have been used back in 1884 when Sternberg’s ghost was first seen
•	Use of modern ghost hunting equipment
•	A demonstration of a scientific investigation
•	Q&amp;A’s with the team
•	Tea, coffee and light refreshments 

About the hosts 
For 11 years, West Yorkshire Paranormal Ltd have been conducting paranormal investigations from their base in Leeds. They have investigated many locations all over the UK, including local domestic cases. In 2018 they were chosen to represent TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) as seen on the TV shows Ghost Hunters/Ghost Nation, which only allow teams to be affiliated who investigate to a very high standard. They are proud to support The Leeds Library’s fundraising campaign by hosting a ghost hunt at one of their favourite locations!

About The Leeds Library

The Leeds Library is the oldest-surviving members’ subscription library in the UK. Founded in 1768, the Library moved to its current purpose-built premises on Commercial Street in 1808, and many original features remain in this much-loved home. 
From the Georgian splendour of the Main Room, with its Victorian sunlight burners, to the labyrinthian basement deep under Commercial Street, there is an unexpected treasure around every corner.

A note about accessibility – Unfortunately, our Grade II* listed building is not currently fully accessible. We have a stair lift from the ground floor foyer to the first floor but are unable to install a through-floor lift due to the building’s historic status. Please email us on enquiries@theleedslibrary.org.uk if you have any questions around access, and we will do everything that we can to accommodate you.
