Advocates for International Development (A4ID) is a global charity that believes the law can, and should, be used more effectively to eradicate global poverty.Around the world, development organisations work tirelessly to improve access to basic services for the poorest people and empower local communities to tackle poverty.But we have seen that very often a lack of access to legal expertise can reduce the impact of these organisations.We also know that in many instances the law itself can act as a barrier to sustainable international development.It is our role to ensure thatlegal supportis available for all those involved in the fight against poverty and that lawyers and development organisations have theskills and knowledgeto use the law as an effective development tool.Read more about what we do

The A4ID Annual Conference 2023 will explore current trends at the intersection of the rule of law, pro bono, and international development.

T﻿he A4ID Annual Conference 2023 will explore some exciting and innovative thinking, focusing on current trends at the intersection of the rule of law, pro bono, and international development. The theme of this year&#x27;s edition will focus on the Power of Partnerships, highlighting the importance of a global effort to tackle global crises. The conference aims to confront current global trends (climate crisis, localisation, regionality) by not only debating how partnerships can address these trends, but also what kinds of partnerships are currently working, how partnerships are creating new ways of working, and what multi-stakeholder partnerships mean in practice. T﻿he conference aims to bring together legal experts, development partners, and rule of law stakeholders to engage on the challenges, opportunities, and diversity of partnerships required to promote the equitable achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 16 &amp; 17.
